I know I have been absent from the blog scene recently and that is because I have been very busy not only in work, but life as well. Which leads me to the subject of this entry: Don't underestimate the amount of work that goes into a job!
My original goal with the blog was to create one every weekend in my "off time." But, as always, plans change. Now my goal is to contribute when I can and when something noteworthy occurs at work. Now back to the point! When my alarm rings at 5:15 every morning, the first thought in my head is "It's so early, I want to go back to bed." Then as i sit up, I remember the great opportunity I have been given to work with Major League Baseball. Making my next thought "What can I learn today?" It probably seems like I am giving my time here so far at MLB a bad name, but that is far from true. I have learned so much so far and only continue learning more. This is made to alert you that interning or a full-time job is very time-consuming and requires maximum effort if you want positive results. So I'll end this entry with one more point: Don't be afraid to set that alarms earlier than 9 o'clock, it's worth it.

Americans watch an average of four and a half hours of television each day. In those four and a half hours, they are exposed to hundreds of commercials promoting hundreds of different products and services. Some of these commercials are memorable because of the humor attached to the product or service; others are remembered for their dramatic messages, positive or negative, overt or implied; and others stick in our minds solely because they’re overplayed and we see them every time we turn on our TV's. With that said, here is my list of my most memorable commercials and ad campaigns from the past few months, both good and bad.
1. State Farm: I’m not entirely sure what silly dancing fans have to do with insurance, but it works. It makes viewers pay attention, and the commercial stays in their minds. Bringing a well-known face to the campaign helps as well, especially playing on what that person is most known for. Case-and-point: former basketball coach Bob Knight. 2. Five-Hour Energy: Personally, I’m not a fan of this recent ad campaign. I’m not denying my love for caffeine, but I know how to control my intake. These commercials appear to promote the idea that it’s okay to take caffeine shots anytime, anywhere. The people in the commercial even claim they take a Five-Hour Energy shot “every day.” In fact, it’s not so okay, it’s not healthy, and eventually it will lead to a crash, or perhaps even an addiction. I think they need to find a better way to market their product that promotes healthier and safer consumption habits. 3. Bud Light: These commercials are, in my mind, the highlight of the Super Bowl. Bud Light never fails to deliver humor and fun in their ads, and are always keeping viewers guessing as to what they’ll come up with next. I absolutely love the “Here, We-Go!” commercials with the beer-fetching dog. How creative! Their pairing with hip-hop artist Pitbull is also genius. His catchy songs used in the background at club scenes give an air of “fun” that could only come with drinking Bud Light. 4. “That Was So Ten Seconds Ago”: Do I really need to say anymore? These were cool the first three times. Now they’re just overused, overplayed, and annoying. I get that the idea is super-fast 4G speeds, but realistically, is it really that fast? It’s a little too dramatic and exaggerated. Although I won’t lie, I still chuckle at the “do you guys know how to post videos to Facebook?” guy. 5. Coca Cola Polar Bears: These are classic. You can’t watch a bunch of fuzzy arctic bears chase after a bottle of the heavenly carbonated beverage and not smile. They just look so happy and joyful, especially once they grab hold of the Coke. Polar bears should make everyone happy! I hope this campaign sticks around. 6. Dos Equis: This guy is becoming an icon. He’s got “the stare” down, and he’s so smooth and cool in his appearance. It’s like he’s saying “you can be as cool as me if you drink Dos Equis, too.” |
